We get a lot of questions on what Jacron is and why it’s a great alternative to leather or other materials. We thought we’d break it down for you in this blog with a list of reasons why a washable paper bag is so beneficial for the consumer and the planet!

Leather-look. Jacron paper is a leather alternative and it has a cool little story behind it. The material’s durability is high and you’ll probably recognise it from a famous brand in the 1980s – LEVI’s tags and back patches. It has a leather-y look meaning you can still achieve the leather style without contributing to the leather industry. 100% vegan-friendly and durable.
Water-resistant. This material is NOT AFRAID of water! Wear it under the rain and don’t stress!
Renewable and sustainable. It is made from high-density wood pulp cellulose, one of the most sustainable materials, obtained from renewable resources and sourced from sustainable forestry.
Easy to care and wash. Jacron paper is machine washable at 40 degrees and if you use a laundry bag you can use the spin too, it is dimensionally stable and it does not shrink or stretch. It withstands stone, enzyme washing, and dry cleaning.
Fast-drying. Unlike other materials, jacron paper dries very quickly.
Lightweight. The heaviest backpack weighs just 600 grams, it is beneficial for your back.
Hard-wearing and durable. The largest backpack can carry up to 8-10 kg, it is very high tear-resistant and high abrasion resistant unlike soft leather, also it has good UV stability.
Affordable. Jacron paper is less expensive than leather.
Recyclable. You can recycle each single part of our Unfold backpacks from the zipper chains, sliders, popper buttons to the jacron paper itself and the cotton linen.
Moisture-wicking. Jacron paper picks up moisture and carries it away from your body, spreading it out, to evaporate easily on the outside of the fabric. So you stay cool and dry.
Chemical-free. Jacron paper is developed from natural plant fibers and it is free from harmful substances in the production process (e.g. AZO dyes)
100% Vegan-friendly. All our bags are 100% animal-free.
Certified material. The material is accredited by both the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) an international standard that ensures the material is sourced from responsibly managed forests and Oeko-Tex (Standard 100) certification ensuring that no harmful substances are used on the material.
Biodegradable. Jacron Paper is made of natural fibres and is completely biodegradable.
