EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT JACRON PAPER!

Jacron paper is a sustainable sheet of kraft paper made from cellulose, (the main fibre that forms the structure of plants), water and some particles of natural rubber.

It’s a vegan and eco-friendly option, and an amazing alternative to leather: jacron looks similar to real leather, but it’s 100% animal-free. Jacron was first used in the 1950s in jeans tags, also called jacrons. Thanks to its durable and water-resistant qualities, jacron paper was adopted by Levi’s to replace leather tags.

In our search for new sustainable fabrics, we discovered that Jacron paper works fabulously in fashion. Now we are able to achieve a look that is similar to leather while respecting our planet!

Did you know that the patch behind your Levi Strauss & Co’s jeans is made of jacron?

Once upon a time, these little patches behind our denim were made of leather and featured an embossed logo for the maker of the jeans. But now, brands mostly use faux leather patches made of paper… called washable jacron paper. Levi's was actually the first brand to do this, adding a leather patch to their riveted denim waist overalls back in 1873.

Jacron is a type of paper material and a standard name for a fabric with similar qualities to animal-derived leather. This animal-free alternative is known for its excellent dimensional durability.

Jacron has high strength, durability, and resistance to abrasion. It's used in the fashion industry to make clothing, footwear, and accessories. It's also found in a variety of domestic products.

Jacron is generally found in the same common applications as real leather in the textile industry. Here is everything you need to know about Jacron.

Unlike other vegan options, jacron paper comes from a source that is renewable and produced in a mindful way. This material is accredited by the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council), Oeko-Tex and Rainforest Alliance.
